Manyawar Kanshiram Government Polytechnic, Kannauj was established in 2010 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Currently, only one stream of engineering, namely Electronics Engineering is running in the institute. All the courses are duly approved by the Board of Technical Education, Lucknow & AICTE, Delhi. Mr D.K. Verma was the first principal of this institute. At present, Mr Santosh Kumar Verma is providing able guidance and leadership to the institute as principal. Kannauj is one of the most ancient places in India having a rich archaeological and cultural heritage. Kannauj district from a geographical point of view it is studded in between 27 degrees 13 min 30 sec North latitude and from 79 deg 19 min to 80 degrees 1 min east longitudes. The district was carved out of the erstwhile Farrukhabad district on September 18, 1997.

The district is situated in Kanpur Division its North borders touches Farrukhabad District, at its east Hardoi District is situated, Kanpur dehat is at its south-east border while western and southern borders touch District Mainpuri and Etawah respectively. The climate of the district is characterized by a hot dry summer and a pleasant cold season. The main aim and vision for the establishment of this institute are to impart technical education for the youth of Kannauj and other districts so that they can get employment in government, public & private sectors and raise the living standards of themselves and society. Presently, Government Polytechnic, Kannauj is the leading technical institute of the district and striving hard to fulfil the dreams of unemployed youth and empowering society & the nation.
